Bret Walker

Bret Walker SC was admitted to the New South Wales bar in 1979 and took silk in December 1993. His practice has focussed predominately on general appellate advocacy, equity, commercial, administrative and Constitutional law. He was president of the Law Council of Australia between 1997 and 1998 and president of the NSW Bar Association from November 2001 to November 2003. He has been both Commissioner and Counsel in numerous inquiries including the 2006-2007 inquiry into the suitability of the Casino operator and the 2007 inquiry into Sydney Ferries. In addition to his work at the bar, Bret Walker SC is presently the Royal Commissioner for the Murray-Darling Royal Commission and Constitutional law Adviser to the Law Council of Australia.
